Dreamers Far Away

Dreamers far away

Some place far and foreign my lover sleeps
She dreams, she dreams…
An unfathomable sea separates us.
I stand on a distant shore and wonder
Is she crying? Is she weeping
The tears which fill that sea?
Is she mourning? Is she grieving
For the death of her dream?

Can I help her?
Can I comfort her?
Does it matter what I say
To a strange girl I met one fateful day
And took affection to in a special way?

Some place far and foreign my lover wakes
The gulf between us widens.
I lie on my bed and wonder
Is she thinking of me?
Is she trying to forget?
Is she afraid of me?
Is she going to reply back?
And I sleep and dream…

Alone on my grey shingle shore
Cowered by the cold, howling, shrieking wind
Intimidated by the monstrous crashing surf,
I am bending down to pick up the shingles
And hurling them into that dark unfathomable sea.
Trying to bridge the ocean that separates us,
Trying to fill the vast chasm with small pebbles.

The Scuba Diver

Alone in a sea of strangers
Treading through the flotsam of Babel
Everyone talking,
Yelling, Speaking, Whispering
Squawking
A Noisy Gaggle of throats

But there is no one to talk to
My voice goes unheard
My words come back unanswered
Then I feel confusion I feel dread
(A shrieking, rising tide of madness confronts me.)

Bewildered I plunge into the blue depths
And the black beast does not follow.
I descend deep
Through my regulator
I suck in the cold compressed air
Down in the stillness of the oceanic womb
I hear my every breath

I feel my senses align
Alone in the depths
Down in the deep
I find the solace I seek
In this silent world
So alien to humanity
I am at peace.

5 years ago - A wedding poem 10th August 2008

I used to do most of my blogging on another site called "www.multiply.com" - but it has since changed direction and ejected all of the bloggers.

I have had to import all my blogs from that period over to blogger. A lot of them are just junk. But I wrote some nice stuff as well - like this one:

It seems very sad that as wedding ceremonies/ honeymoons become more and more elaborate, fantastic, and expensive, the greater the number of divorces.

Beautiful wedding ceremony - pity it didn't last as long as the expiry date of the cake.

Perhaps too much attention is being paid to the exterior, external surface of marriages, and less on the actual integrity of the relationship. You can see all that on the Woman's Day magazines - glamor glamor glamor... omg wedding rings, designer wedding dresses, wedding dinners of the century, celebrity guests... and then... what happens?

(Having said that - I believe that marriages in ages past - were often iron rod legal contracts - in which both parties never knew each other - in which women were treated as a commodity, property, not as a human being... but custom, traditional, and misogynistic factors kept married people together - which seems fubar to me.)

I would think that before all marriages or even engagements take place - simple exercises ought to be taken which address 1. Mutual Respect, 2. Amicable Conflict Resolution, 3. Intolerable individual Traits and Practices - my, that was a mouthful.

Marriage is after all more than just a love affair - its a partnership - you're working together to build up a relationship - eventually - a family/children - will come into this relationship. But if the core values of the partners are not right - its going to be a short and bitter journey.

Here's something I made up just then:

By the shores of the water we walk
Hand in hand
As the sun sets, so we bid farewell to our past lives
Let us greet the sunrise, this New Day, not as individuals with our own separate plans
But together as one, heart and soul, body and mind, devoted to one another
Caring not for our own selves but for each other.
Hand in Hand, Heart to heart
Our Destinies Entwined
We greet the faint rays of the Morning dawn as One
My Love, hold me close.

I think the essence of a successful marriage or just a good relationship starts off with good communication and respect. Treasure such friendships. They are Gold.

J

She charms me so...
How?

Is it her scent?
Maybe.

The nearness of her smooth tanned skin?
Could be.

Her presence as she lingers next to me?
Quite likely.

The way she walks as her pink sarong embraces her graceful hips?
Hmm... Probably.

Her smile when she looks at me?
Yes, most definitely. Absolutely.

In the green I walk
Past lush forest trees
The air is wet with their scent
Moss covers them like robes for royalty
I stay silent and listen
Listen

...

As the trees whisper their ancient song

Start

Hi all,

I thought I'd have a blog where I can put up my "poems"- most of them don't match the traditional style though... hence the quotes.

I liked writing poems... short simple, encapsulating that moment of emotion: grief, happiness, thoughtfulness...

Its like a photograph into your psyche - a snapshot of the mind.

I've been writing the stuff since high school. Hope you like it.

The words just come to me, sitting on a bus, waiting for a train, somewhere in a spa. The words pop up and dance in my brain and I write it down if I can.

I don't see them as anything special. I just can. Some guys can do complex math problems. Some guys can scale mountains. Some guys can repair a car engine in a day.

I write.
